(Dark) Rwanda Dukunde Kawa Musasa

This beans are truly special. They hail from the Dukunde Kawa Collective in the Ruli sector of the Galenke District  in northern Rwanda. They spent their days in the Mountain forests a short 2 ½ hour drive from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The beans are Fair trade- and Rain Forest Certified.

The coop started amid the rubble of their 90's struggles and grew to  the point of winning awards from the SCA for their sustainability practices. They were also fortunate to build their business in a time when the country shifted from an exporter model to. a small business model that has allowed them to focus on growing quality beans instead of growing massive quantities of beans. This also led to better living conditions for the female led farms that participate in the coop.
